## Caveats

- Currency: list prices in EUR excl. VAT, converted at 1.17 USD/EUR (repo assumption).
- Billing granularity after the 24 h minimum assumed hourly (prices shown per hour); not stated explicitly.
- Per-instance engine sizing picks one Mac per session; with the Apple 2-VM cap two 4 vCPU / 8 GiB VMs can share a 16 GB Mac (DIY with UTM/Tart), halving machine count.
- Only PAR-1 availability zone shown on the pricing page. Egress pricing and IPv4 pricing not stated on the Apple silicon pricing page (null).
- Asahi Linux variant (M2-L-ASAHI, EUR 139/mo / EUR 0.21/h) has no 24 h minimum; not modelled as a macOS mode.
- Research file named the M4 Pro SKU "M4-L"; live page calls it M4-XL (14-core, 64 GB, 2.05 TB).

- Asahi Linux (M2-L-ASAHI, 412 GB) is 'currently in experimental status'; M4 FAQ says 'Linux OS or Windows OS are not supported' on M4. features.linux=true relies only on this experimental M2 Pro variant.
- M4-L was a separate M4 Pro SKU (EUR 305/month, EUR 0.44/h, fr-par-1 and fr-par-3) that the public catalog now marks "status": "retired"; the live M4 Pro SKU is M4-XL (14-core, 64 GB, 2.05 TB, EUR 335/month, EUR 0.49/h).
- Billing continues until deletion completes (~30 min after the request) and powering off a Mac mini does not stop billing; hourly SKUs in the public catalog use unit hour (granularity_s 3600 kept).

## How this provider charges


Scaleway rents whole physical Mac minis (M1, M2, M2 Pro, M4, M4 Pro) in Paris (PAR-1). You pay hourly with a **24-hour minimum** for macOS ("due to licensing restrictions"), or take a **monthly commitment** at a lower price. You pay "as long as it is assigned to your account" (idle or not) until you delete it. Prices are EUR excl. VAT; USD at 1.17 USD/EUR.

## Gotchas

1. **24 h floor per Mac.** A Mac created for a 1-hour job costs 24 h (M1: €2.64). You can enable auto-delete after 24 h.
2. **Commitment is sticky.** It renews monthly, deletion only takes effect at the anniversary, and you cannot go back to hourly.
3. **Hourly × 730 is always above the monthly commitment** (M1: €80.30 vs €75). Keep Macs that run all month on commitment.
4. **One whole Mac per server.** Packing two 4 vCPU / 8 GiB macOS VMs on one Mac (UTM/Tart) is allowed by the Apple SLA (2 VMs), but is DIY.
5. SIP cannot be disabled and there is no Recovery access. FileVault is impractical.

Workload: 4 vCPU / 8 GiB, 50 concurrent × 8 h/day × 22 days (1,100 sessions), 50 GiB snapshots, 100 GiB egress (unpriced).
