## Caveats

- Plan fees prepay instance unit-minutes at $0.001 (vs $0.0015 PAYG/overage); encoded as fee (not credit) + included_usd valued at the PAYG rate ($150 Team, $375 Business). These included minutes do NOT apply to Devboxes; the non-spec plan key included_applies_to_modes marks this - an engine that ignores it will wrongly discount Devbox usage.
- Concurrency is a per-platform vCPU/RAM budget (non-spec keys pool_*), not a sandbox count; plan concurrency left null. Windows not available on Developer.
- Max instance duration (3/5/24 h) applies to compute instances / runners; no Devbox time limit is published (re-checked 2026-09-28), so Devbox modes are priced without it.
- 64-vCPU Linux shapes are priced at 1.25x the max(vCPU, GB/2) unit formula; macOS units come from Namespace's table and do not follow the formula.
- Devbox vCPU is a burst ceiling ('can boost to'); sustained CPU share unpublished.
- Devbox storage $0.20/GB-month is on used bytes (not provisioned); instance cache volumes use a different model ($0.0048/GB-day storage + $0.002/GB-h x volume size x runtime) - listed in extras, not modelled.
- General egress and public IPv4 not published (null); only Bazel traffic is priced ($100/TB above allowance). Ingress via Namespace HTTPS/TCP endpoints; no dedicated public IPv4.
- Regions: sites such as 'iad', nearest by default; EU data residency exists but site list and any regional price difference are unpublished (multiplier 1 assumed). Region-exclusive residency is Enterprise-only.
- Free: 30-day Developer trial with no card; no dollar credit (encoded 0).
- Devbox Minute rounding/minimum unpublished; instance rounding is min 1 min then 15 s grace round-down.
- Isolation technology not documented (own hardware, 'no shared tenancy'); card uses 'vm'.
- perf: computesdk does not say whether it measured instances or devboxes; attached to instance-linux and card level.
- No dated price changes found (changelog, PriceTrack).
- Merged 2026-09-28: the former namespace-macos card duplicated this card's instance-macos / instance-windows / devbox-macos regimes at identical prices (namespace.so/pricing); it now lives in research/rejected/namespace-macos/. macOS concurrency is a vCPU budget: 12 / 24 / 48 macOS vCPU on Developer / Team / Business, so e.g. 5 concurrent 6-vCPU Macs (30 vCPU) need Business and 50 need Enterprise (engine plan.concurrency cannot express a vCPU budget; see plan pool_macos_vcpu).
- Linux instances (instance-linux, Apple Silicon Linux) are flagged alt / product_class ci-runner (2026-09-28): per-minute build/runner compute with 3/5/24 h caps. Linux Devboxes are the sandbox-like product.
- Devboxes: plan max instance duration is documented only for instances; Devbox sessions have no published cap and are priced on a no-fee "Devbox (pay as you go)" pseudo-plan.
- Included ephemeral disk per shape (no extra charge): disk = 32 GB + max(vCPU, RAM_GB/2) x 8 GB, e.g. Linux/Windows 1x2 40 GB, 2x4 48, 4x8 64, 8x16 96, 16x32 160, 32x64 288, 32x128 544, 32x256 1056, 32x512 2080; macOS 4x7 80, 6x14 104, 8x14 112, 12x28 160, 16x28 176, 12x56/16x56 272.
- StarSling's 2026-09-29 benchmark run detected an OCI container (not a VM) inside this provider's 4 vCPU / 8 GB sandbox; the card keeps the provider's documented isolation (vm) until confirmed.

## How this provider charges

Namespace (namespace.so) sells two separately metered compute products on its own hardware (AMD EPYC, AmpereOne,
Apple M4 Pro / M5 Max):

1. **Compute instances** (GitHub runners, `nsc` instances, remote builders) metered in **unit-minutes**:
   1 unit = 1 vCPU + 2 GB RAM for 1 minute × platform multiplier (Linux 1, Windows 2, Linux on Apple Silicon 7, macOS 10).
Plans (Team/Business) prepay a bucket of unit-minutes at $0.001; everything else is $0.0015 (Developer PAYG and overage).
2. **Devboxes** (persistent dev environments for humans/agents) metered in **Devbox Minutes** at $0.004 each, plus
persistent storage $0.20/GB-month *used*. Devbox usage is **not** covered by plan unit-minutes.

All numbers verified on https://namespace.so/pricing (live, 2026-09-28; raw dump `raw/namespace_so_pricing.txt`)
and https://namespace.so/docs/architecture/compute/resource-limits.md.

4 vCPU / 8 GB Linux instance = 4 units: **$0.36/h** PAYG/overage, **$0.24/h** inside a plan's prepaid bucket.
Devbox S (boost to 4 vCPU / 8 GB) = 1 Devbox Minute/min = **$0.24/h**.

## Gotchas

1. **Two meters, one bill.** Plan fees only prepay *instance* unit-minutes. A Team plan does nothing for Devbox spend.
2. **Plan fee = prepaid minutes at a 33% discount, not credit.** Effective Team deal: $100 buys $150 of PAYG usage.
Below ~66,700 unit-min/month Developer PAYG is cheaper; above it Team wins.
3. **Concurrency is a vCPU/RAM budget, not a sandbox count.** Developer can run only eight 4x8 instances at once;
Business 40. Windows is not available on Developer at all.
4. **Max instance duration 3 h / 5 h / 24 h** — CI-shaped. Long-lived agent sessions belong on Devboxes.
5. **Non-standard ratios pay for RAM**: 8x32 costs 16 units (same as 16x32). 64-vCPU shapes carry a hidden 1.25× premium.
6. **macOS is expensive but Devbox macOS M ($3.60/h) = macOS 6x14 instance at prepaid rate**; on PAYG the instance costs $5.40/h.
7. **Devbox vCPU is a burst ceiling**, so the per-vCPU list price ($0.06/vCPU-h for S) is not guaranteed sustained capacity.
8. Devbox storage bills on **used** GB, but instance cache volumes bill by *volume size × runtime* (GB-h) — a large, mostly
   empty cache volume still costs.
9. Egress is unpublished; treat as unknown.

## Worked example

Workload: 4 vCPU / 8 GiB Linux, 50 concurrent × 8 h/day × 22 days = 8,800 h, 30% CPU, 50 GiB retained state, 100 GiB egress.

- **Instances**: 8,800 h × 4 units × 60 = 2,112,000 unit-min. But 50 × 4 = 200 vCPU > Business cap (160 vCPU) and 8 h > Team
(5 h) / Developer (3 h) max duration. Only **Enterprise** fits (price unpublished). At list rates it would be
  Business-style $250 + (2,112,000 − 250,000) × $0.0015 = **$3,043** (hypothetical, ignoring caps); pure PAYG $3,168.
Instances are ephemeral, so "50 GiB snapshots" would have to be cache volumes (not comparable).
- **Devbox S** (4 vCPU burst / 8 GB): 8,800 h × $0.24 = $2,112 + idle tail (default 15 min × 1,100 sessions = 275 h ×
  $0.24 = $66) + storage 50 GB × $0.20 = $10 → **≈ $2,188/month**, no plan fee needed (Developer). CPU utilisation does
not matter (billed per running minute). Egress unknown (null). Devbox concurrency limits unpublished.
- 30% CPU changes nothing in either product.
