## Caveats

- CORRECTION vs sweep: Standard 2 vCPU/4 GB is $33/mo AlwaysOn (not $31) and $7.25/mo + $0.30/h AutoStop (not $0.28/h), per AWS's official WorkSpaces price JSON fetched 2026-09-28.
- AutoStop monthly fee (month_fee_per_instance) is not an engine field: add $7.25 (or $9.75/$19 for bigger storage) per desktop per month by hand.
- No 4 vCPU / 8 GB bundle: 4 vCPU needs Power (16 GB).
- Provisioning takes ~20+ min; AutoStop resume ~1-2 min; seat/desktop-oriented DaaS, not an API sandbox. No agent API.
- Office/Visual Studio application bundles, BYOL Windows 10/11 and WorkSpaces Pools/Core not encoded.
- Network egress for streaming is included; internet egress from the VPC (NAT etc.) is normal AWS data transfer, not encoded (null).
- Not encoded: (1) Windows BYOL, $4 cheaper per month on the small bundles (Value $21, Standard $29, Performance $41, Power $66, PowerPro $123, GP $272/$544 AlwaysOn; hourly $0.17/0.26/0.43/0.64/1.49/2.20/4.40). It requires a minimum of 50 WorkSpaces per Region per month (GPU: 4 AlwaysOn or 20 AutoStop) on dedicated hardware, enabled via account manager or ticket, with a 6-month grace period. (2) WorkSpaces Pools: closed to new customers since July 31, 2026. (3) WorkSpaces Core bundles: BYOL-only, via a VDI partner. (4) Office/Visio/Project/Visual Studio add-ons ($8.77-$304.15/month), charged monthly even on AutoStop.

## How this provider charges


WorkSpaces Personal is a persistent Windows desktop (Windows Server-based desktop experience, licence included) sold per bundle. It has two running modes:
- **AlwaysOn**: flat monthly price per desktop.
- **AutoStop**: small fixed monthly fee plus an hourly rate.

The official pricing page did not render in the scraper. Every number below comes from **AWS's official WorkSpaces price JSON** (`workspaces.json`, us-east-1, publication 2026-09-15). This **replaces the guide-sourced numbers in the sweep**: the sweep said Standard was $31/mo AlwaysOn and $0.28/h AutoStop. The real figures are **$33** and **$0.30/h**.

## Gotchas

1. **AutoStop break-even:** a Power desktop costs $70 AlwaysOn versus $7.25 + $0.68/h AutoStop. AutoStop is cheaper only below about 92 h/month.
2. The AutoStop monthly fee is charged even if the desktop never starts. The engine card carries it as a non-spec field (`month_fee_per_instance`), so add it by hand.
3. There is **no 4 vCPU / 8 GB bundle**. 4 vCPU means Power (16 GB).
4. It is a desktop product: provisioning takes ~20 min and AutoStop resume ~1-2 min. There is no agent API, and it needs a directory (Simple AD / AD Connector).
5. The hourly rate appears to round per started hour (hour-granular SKUs).

## Worked example

Workload: 4 vCPU / 8 GiB, 50 concurrent × 8 h/day × 22 days (8,800 h), 30% CPU, 50 GiB snapshots, 100 GiB egress.

Assumption: the Power bundle (4 vCPU / 16 GB, 80+10 GB) is the smallest fit.

At 176 h/desktop/month, AlwaysOn is cheaper. Utilisation (30%) does not matter. There is no user-managed snapshot product to price.
